Well, the day after Christmas was an EARLY day for our family. The Aggies were headed to San Diego to play in the Poinsettia Bowl and we couldn't miss it! That meant waking up at four in the morning and driving to San Diego. We made it in record time!! That's one advantage of waking up that early. The boys were begging to go swimming right when they saw the pool out the window from our room. It is nice to go from snow and cold to sun and warm in the same day. Brad made sure we were out of the pool in time for the game. The game was amazing! There wasn't a whole ton of people there so we could get pretty close in our seats. The Aggies beat N. Illinois so the whole trip was worth it!
The next day we traveled up the coast to the beach house Rob and Aki and their family were staying at. It was an amazing place. Right on the beach with a hot tub. The weather was wonderful so the kids were out building sandcastles and swimming. When they got cold they would just hit the hot tub. I wasn't up for swimming, but loved being able to just sit on the beach and read. We spent all day there just enjoying the ocean.
Brad had been wanting us to go see the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier there in San Diego so that's where we went the next day. There was so much to see, but with two small boys we kind of took the condensed tour. Those ships are amazing. So much to see and explore. We were lucky that Carol decided to come with us that day.
The next day was Sea World! I wasn't really too excited about this one because I thought it was just going to be packed. It was packed, but we still had a good time. After that we were wore out and ready to travel back home the next day. We decided to get up early and go again to miss traffic. We didn't quite make it at four like last time, but it wasn't that bad of a drive. We sure were excited to come home to Sawyer!
We had such a late night Christmas Eve that we woke up before the kids again. Once they were all up and ready, Brad had them head up the stairs one at a time. It's so fun to see the reaction on their faces when they find out what Santa's left them. Once we start opening presents, chaos ensues for pretty much the rest of the day. Messy house, plus happy family equals the perfect Christmas!!
This year for Christmas Eve we were with my family. We started early that day and had our Christmas party where we exchanged gifts. Last year Brad wrapped dolls up and gave them to the little boys with a pretty good reaction. Well, this year Michelle decided to get Brad back. She made a shirt with a target on it, wrapped it up and gave it to Brad. He opened it up and was a little confused for a sec until we blasted him with silly string. It was pretty funny.
That night we went over to Kent & Robyn's house for dinner. I don't get to see their family enough so it's always fun to visit and catch up. We took our annual picture. It's fun to see how much the families have grown.
After dinner we went back to mom and dad's and opened up our Christmas jammies. The boys were pretty happy with theirs. We all put our PJs on...well all of us except Brad...and drove back to Farmington excited for Santa to come!
The Sunday before Christmas we had a full day. I'm in charge of choir so I had the Christmas program to worry about. Everything went great and I'm always so relieved when it's over. We took a few pictures in our Christmas church clothes and then we got ready to head down to the Rich family Christmas party. This year we had it before Christmas because we weren't going to be around after. The Aggies were playing in the Poinsettia Bowl the day after Christmas and a bunch of us were going down. We drove down to the Plummer's house in Draper and about half way there I realized I forgot the toys for the Grinch. Oops! We had to make a quick stop at Smith's.
We had such a fun time at the party. Loved eating a yummy meal and opening presents with family. This year for the make-gifts I had Burke and Blake had me. I made Burke a cute candy jar and Blake gave me some great quiet books for the kids for church. Brad had Logan and Lori had him. He made Logan quite the potato gun and Lori made him a really neat hot chocolate gift bag. I can't quite remember who had the boys names but they were pretty excited for their gifts too. Before we went home the Grinch came and visited the kids. They love when the Grinch comes because he brings them some toys and gives them a hard time. It's pretty funny.
Brad and I live in Farmington along with our two boys Cooper- four and Ryker-one. Brad sells payroll services for Qqest and I am a stay-at-home mom. Brad and I argue all the time about who's the busiest and I would have to say myself!!
